Coaches & Managers

Garden City Raiders Football Club is community club run entirely by volunteers who give up their time so our children, family and friends can enjoy the game. We rely on parents to step forward as coaches and managers for each team. The club does not assign coaches or managers to teams, so if no parent volunteers, we will reconsider whether that team can continue. Coaches and Managers receive the clubs support throughout the season and will receive a club polo shirt to wear with pride.

Coach & Manager Roles

The key duties of Coaches and Managers, some of which may be shared between roles, include:

Team management: Setting up team communications using WhatsApp or Facebook messenger to communicate with your team. Communicating training and game day times and team and parent expectations.

Protecting Garden City Raiders equipment: Ensuring care and accountability for balls, cones, bibs, training gear, goals, fields, and jerseys

Planning and running training sessions

Overseeing game day activities before, during, and after matches.

Coach & Manager Registration/Inclusions

Provide proof of a valid Blue Card or submit a Blue Card application (Volunteer blue cards are FREE!)

Coach & Managers WhatsApp Group

Garden City Raiders use a WhatsApp group to communicate with Coaches and Managers. This group is used for important updates such as kit collection, who is on field set up and pack up duties at home games, training cancellations or changes, reminders about club requirements, and details about special events, team volunteers that are required, including end-of-year celebrations.

At least one Coach or Manager from each team is required to join the group to stay informed. Coaches and Managers are also encouraged to actively participate by posting weekly player of the match photos so we can celebrate player success and build community.

Please note that only confirmed Coaches and Managers will be added into the group. Each year, the group will be reviewed and updated to remove members who are no longer in these roles. The club is here to support Coaches with advice, support and information. We are lucky to have some very experienced coaches within the club who are only more than willing to share, mentor and support our Coaches.
